Clockwork Angel book trailer

This I got off of MTV’s website.

http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2010/08/18/cassandra-clare-clockwork-angel-book-trailer/?xrs=share_twitter

Did anyone else read the story that went with the trailer?  Why did they even bother posting anything at all?  Basically the writer admitted she had no real interest in the series but might after the trailer.  She then procedes to ask people to get her interested in it.  Really?  Why not try actually reading the book?  If I hadn’t read the books and read this review, I would have zero desire to pick the books up.  Somehow I’m guessing that isn’t what Clare’s publists were hoping for when they sent this to MTV. Maybe MTV should have had a fan write this instead.

Quoting Ill Wind by Rachel Caine

So I finally caved and started reading the Weather Warden series by Rachel Caine.  They have sounded interesting to me for a while but I was trying  to get through some other series first.

Ill Weather was an okay novel.  There was a lot of just getting from one place to another.  Even more than that, there was a lot of background.  Overall, I would say that this felt like a book setting up the series.  I will say, the characters do have me hooked now and I can’t wait to read more.  Plus, I love Rachel Caine’s writing.  There was lots of quotes I enjoyed.  Here are a couple of my favorites….

“We resonate to the same frequency.”

“Something very wrong about comtemplating murder with the smell of baking in the air.”

“It’s just suicide with a longer fuse.”

Is Sookie Stackhouse the daughter of Zeus?

I just noticed someone came to my page, searching under that so I thought I would answer.

Good guess but no.

I’m not going to say what she is but I will say that the answer is in From Dead to Worse by Charlaine Harris.  It’s the eighth book in the series.

I am curious whether they will tell us on the show or not.  I’m very curious what else people might be guessing she was.  If it wasn’t for the books, who knows what I might think.

Quoting Goddess of Spring by PC Cast

And so my PC Cast reading continues.  Can you tell she has become one of my favorite authors?  I loved Goddess of the Sea and just finished Goddess of Spring.  So in love with the whole story.  I’m a sucker for greek mythology anyways.  Yeah I even loved the show Xena. Seeing a spin on the Hades/Persephone myth was awesome.  Plus I liked how other myths, like the story of Eurydice and Orpheus, were intermixed.  I’m taking a break from the Goddess Summoning Series to read one of the Weather Warden books.  I’m sure it wouldn’t be long until I’m back for more though.

There was so many quotes from the book that I liked but here is one of my favorites…

“She used to be romantic and dewy-eyed and bla,h blah, blah, love, blah, blah. Until life and experience and men had cured her naivete.”

When I read that my first thought was, exactly.  Seriously, that is how I feel myself and I’m almost twenty years younger than this character. Plus the other thing that struck me was how much in reminded me of the song Love Love, Kiss Kiss by Alkaline Trio.  If I remember it correctly it goes “love love love kiss kiss blah blah blah you’re making me sick, I wish you’d just stop showing off, for the rest of us that no one wants to love, it’s hard enough trying to drink another winter all alone.”  See what I mean about them being alike?  Oh no, now I’m going to have that song stuck in my head.  Well, at least it is a good one.

Oh True Blood…

*****Contains small spoilers from varies Sookie Stackhouse novels******

Who else is completely loving season three?!?

The first thing I love is how perfectly they cast everyone.  Every character except Claudine is exactly what I saw in my head while reading the books. Um, speaking of Claudine, I was so excited to see her show up.  When I saw Charlaine Harris, she implied that we might see her and that personally, she was looking forward to that.

Crystal and Jason! Crystal is perfect. In the books, I definately have a love/hate relationship with her.

Debbie and Alcide are basically the descriptions in the books brought to life.  Alcide is so hot by the way.  The more Alcide we see, the better in my book.  If they follow the books, we will be seeing a lot of him for quite a while.

I’m enjoying seeing more of Hadley too.  They never really describe her in the books but her story always seemed very interesting.  I hope they continue to fill in a peices of plot that we got in the books.

Another thing I am loving this season is Sam’s plot.  In the books, he leaves sometimes to visit his family out of state.  If I remember correctly, only his mother is a shifter and his family kind of freaked out when they found out. Actually really freaked out.  The first episode or two that they introduced Sam’s family, I was a little unsure of. Now I’m completely in love with Tommy and am excited to see where they go with his plot line.

New Cassandra Clare novels!

If you can’t tell by this post and the last one, I’ve been looking up book release dates lately.  I tend to not realize books are coming out until I see them at the store so when I actually love them up earlier I get very excited.

The most exciting news I’ve come across is all the new stuff Cassandra Clare has coming out.  I had heard about The Clockwork Angel so was already looking forward to that.  It will be a prequel to her other books.  The Mortal Instruments was originally written as a trilogy.  If you have the books, it states so in the back.  I loved, I mean absolutely loved, those books.  Actually, maybe I’ll even reread them before the new one comes out.

Anyways, I was extremly excited to see on Amazon a listing for City of Fallen Angels.  The cover has not been revealed but the image right now says “Who will be tempted by darkness?”  My mind is already realing trying to think who it might be. Simon? Clary? Jace? Ah, I want to know right now.

Then I decided to check out Clare’s website to see what else I could find. There was a link to this article…

http://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/childrens/childrens-book-news/article/44067-s-s-signs-cassandra-clare-to-two-more-books.html?utm_source=Publishers+Weekly%27s+PW+Daily&utm_campaign=d16c5c928f-UA-15906914-1&utm_medium=email

So three new books in the works plus the possiblity of a movie?!?! Yes please!

Other books I’m excited for are….

Goddess of Legend by PC Cast
The Fledgling Handbook by PC Cast
Awakened by PC and Kirstin Cast (can you tell I’m on a PC Cast kick? Look at my reading list from this year)
Night Star by Alyson Noel
Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks

So what is everyone else looking forward to?

New Kathy Reichs book!

Is anyone else completely excited for the new Kathy Reichs’ book Virals?

As far as I know this will be Reichs first novel that does not center around Temperance Brennan.  The main character however is supposed to be Tempe’s neice Tory.  This book is more on the sci-fi side where as the Temperance books are crime mysteries.

I am excited for this book because Reichs is an extremely talented writer.  The detail in her books is incredible.  I even named my cat Temperance after her character.  It will be  interesting to see her writing something in a different genre.  I would say from the description, this book will be more along the type of books I have been reading this year anyways.  I’ve really been on a supernatural kick.

This will also be her first young adult novel.  I don’t see any information yet on if this will be a series.  I hope so.  I know I will certainly buy it as soon as it comes out to help the cause!

Meyer still dominates best seller list

So tonight I decided to look over the best sellers list to see what was big right now.  I used to do this fairly often but haven’t in months.  I can’t help but be impressed by how well Stephanie Meyer is still doing on varies list.  Even books related to the Twilight saga are doing well.

I really find it interesting that a presale of a book that has already been out for years is a topseller. It is insane how well the books are still doing.  Honestly, I think it is cool.  Kudos to Meyer for doing so well.  Being on the best sellers list is a huge thing for an author.  Seeing anyone do that well is very cool.

I love my Kindle! Well sort of…

Alright so I was extremely lucky and got to go to a big Samsung launch/training thing recently.  As part of the event, I got the new Samsung Vibrant.  The phone is completely awesome and I love it.

The best part….

The built in Kindle!!!

I know I have always argued on here that I don’t completely get the ebook thing.   Obviously I just needed one.  Having it in my phone is the best thing ever. The convience factor is what really has me impressed.  I just recently started working at a dance club and at the end of the night, I have to wait around for a while to get paid.  No big deal but it is a bit boring.  Well problem solved.  The other day I busted out my phone and started in on reading Divine Beginnings which by the way is only in ebook format.  Yes, I’m totally the nerdy girl sitting in one of the hottest clubs in Portland reading but whatever.

I was always excited to see what books they offer for free.  There is a lot of classics that I have never read that are available for free.  For example, I downloaded The Scarlet Letter.  Again, this is a plus for me because I can make sure to always have something on my phone to read for those times when I’m sitting around after work.

So overall review is that I love having the Kindle on my phone but I still am reluctant to actually buy one.  I could however see myself getting one if the cost went down or something like that.

Sorry I still haven’t gotten the post about Rhiannon up.  Soon, I promise.
